Around the world, millions of families struggle to meet their most basic needs. The United Nations estimates that over 700 million people still live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $2.15 a day (UN SDGs). For these families, necessities such as food, clean water, hygiene products, and access to technology remain out of reach. Poverty is not just about income; it is about the dignity of having shelter, the health provided by nutritious meals, and the opportunity that comes from learning tools and resources.
At Promise Hill Project, the belief is simple: every individual deserves dignity, health, and opportunity. As a humanitarian aid nonprofit, we focus on bridging these gaps. Our mission is to address urgent needs while creating lasting pathways for change. Through compassion-driven programs and the dedication of volunteers and donors, we bring this belief to life.
Three Core Programs Driving Change
Promise Hill Project delivers its mission through three well-defined programs, each addressing distinct yet interlinked human needs. These programs operate in the United States, Kenya, and India, each tailored to local conditions, but all rooted in dignity and service.
Basic Needs
The Basic Needs Program focuses on providing essential items, including nutritious food, clean water, shelter, and menstrual hygiene products, to children and adults living in poverty or experiencing homelessness.
- In America, this program supports meals for unhoused people, shelter stays, and the distribution of period products.
- In Kenya, it extends to food and period product distributions in schools or children’s homes. In India, we have put our efforts into combating “safe water scarcity” by facilitating access to clean drinking water.
The aim is simple yet powerful: to ensure that nobody is without what they need to survive and to live with a basic level of comfort and health.
Personal Care
Hygiene is a basic human right, not a luxury. The Personal Care Program ensures that people have access to hygiene supplies and personal care items that many take for granted.
- It distributes hygiene kits filled with items like body soap, toothpaste and toothbrush, shampoo, deodorant, body wipes, etc. The program helps reduce not only physical risks, such as infections, but also emotional distress caused by a lack of hygiene.
- For many young adults aged 18–24 and women in low-income settings, hygiene poverty (lack of access to these basics) contributes to health issues like body lice, dental problems, skin infections, and even mental health struggles.
- Personal care contributes directly to self-esteem, enabling individuals to apply for jobs, attend school, and engage socially without shame or stigma.
Tools for Technology
Our Tools for Technology Program works to bridge the digital and educational gaps that hold many back.
- The program provides laptops, printers, monitors, sewing machines, and other tools of technology to students and community members who lack access.
- It supports digital literacy, enabling recipients to access educational resources, complete assignments, and participate in learning in modern contexts.
Global Reach: Serving Communities in Three Countries
Promise Hill Project’s vision is both local and international. While its heart beats strongly in its home communities, its impact stretches across continents, touching lives in the United States, Kenya, and India.
United States: A Comprehensive Approach
Outreach events in cities provide nutritious meals and hygiene kits to individuals experiencing homelessness. Volunteers stock feminine hygiene dispensers in high school bathrooms, ensuring students never have to miss class due to a lack of products. We also provide digital tools that help bridge gaps for students in underfunded schools.

Kenya: Meeting Urgent Needs and Empowering Women
Many families in rural villages in Kenya lack consistent access to clean water, nutritious food, and essential hygiene supplies. Outreach events provide meals, clean drinking water, and hygiene kits to hundreds of families at a time.
One of the most impactful initiatives in Kenya is the female empowerment program. By distributing period care kits, offering educational sessions on health, and providing safe spaces for girls, we help break cycles of stigma and absenteeism in schools. Empowering young women here not only addresses immediate needs but also builds a foundation for future resilience.

India: Expanding Access to Clean Water
In India, the focus has been on water projects within rural communities. Access to safe, clean water has a profound impact on everything from health to education. Our efforts have brought clean drinking water to families who previously had none.
These efforts not only reduce the spread of waterborne diseases but also ease the burden on women and children who often travel long distances to collect water.

Why This Work Matters
Behind every outreach event, every meal served, and every hygiene kit distributed is a story of resilience. The mother who can feed her children with dignity. The student who can stay in class because she has access to period products. The community that no longer suffers from preventable illnesses due to unclean water.
Promise Hill Project’s mission is about more than charity; it is about restoring hope and dignity. By addressing fundamental human needs, we help individuals focus not just on survival but on building brighter futures.
